Laurent Ferrier is a Swiss luxury watch brand that was founded by Laurent Ferrier himself in 2010. However, Ferrier’s horological expertise and passion for watches dates back much earlier, as he spent over 37 years working for prestigious watch brands such as Patek PhilippePatek Philippe and Rolex.
Laurent Ferrier was born in 1946 in Geneva, Switzerland, and grew up in a family of watchmakers. His father was a master watchmaker and the technical director of Patek Philippe. Ferrier himself started his watchmaking career in 1968 as an apprentice at Patek Philippe, where he learned the art of finishing movements and assembling watches. After several years at Patek Philippe, Ferrier moved to Geneva to work for the prestigious luxury watch brand, Rolex, where he was in charge of the movement design department.
In 2010, Ferrier founded his own watch brand, Laurent Ferrier, with the goal of creating watches that reflected his passion for traditional watchmaking techniques and his commitment to quality and precision. His first watch, the Galet Classic, was launched in 2010, and it quickly garnered attention for its elegant design and technical innovation. The Galet Classic features a manual-winding movement with a double direct-impulse escapement, which ensures high accuracy and efficiency.
Since the launch of the Galet Classic, Laurent Ferrier has continued to produce a range of high-end luxury watches, each with its own unique design and technical features. Many of his watches are inspired by vintage timepieces from the 1940s and 1950s, and they feature classic styling with modern technical advancements.
Laurent Ferrier has won several awards for his watch designs, including the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2010, which is considered the highest distinction in the watchmaking industry. Today, the brand is known for its dedication to traditional watchmaking techniques, as well as its commitment to innovation and quality.
