Bulgari returns with a fresh adaptation of its renowned Octo Finissimo, continuing to set and break records in ultra-thin timepieces. This latest release showcases an Octo watch with a “Tuscan Copper” dial, a warm, sunray-finished metallic shade. Bulgari claims the dial’s color takes inspiration from “the ethereal light present in the artworks of a 16th-century Italian painter from the Florentine school.”
Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Executive Director of Product Creation, referenced the Mannerism movement (which transitioned from naturalistic realism towards a more expressive style) and the work of Jacopo da Pontormo. In the press release, he stated, “The Octo Finissimo unveils a virtually infinite realm of creativity. Its design is simultaneously geometric, rigorous, and versatile, allowing us to explore a wide range of personalities. When combined with color, it can convey ideas, emotions, or abstract notions.”
The color represents a gentle metallic interpretation of the ever-popular salmon hue seen in various brands. It has only been used once before in Bulgari watchmaking, in a much brighter Perpetual Calendar. This rendition of salmon is subtler and contrasts nicely with the cool shades of the steel case and bracelet.
Apart from the copper element, not much has changed in the Octo. It remains remarkably thin (6.4mm) and somewhat wide (40mm), with an ultra-thin in-house movement operating within. The watch features a stainless steel screw-down crown and a transparent case back, allowing you to observe the movement in action. This timepiece is exclusive to North America, with only 50 pieces available at $13,300 each.
